Backbone PE

The network infrastructure consists of backbone PE devices, which facilitate interconnection of backbone networks. Users can be efficiently assigned and managed thanks to the Backbone PE feature. This document provides detailed instructions for creating, modifying, and removing backbones.

Creating Backbone PE​

  • To create a Backbone PE, ensure a backbone is already configured. Refer to the Backbone Configuration Guide for instructions.

  • Go to the Login > Backbone PE > Add New Backbone PE.

  • Provide the required information in the fields below.

    • Backbone PE Device Name: Enter the name of the Backbone PE device. (i.e:- shanghai-pe)
    • Select Backbone: Choose the associated Backbone from the dropdown list. (i.e, shanghai-backbone)
    • Click the Save button to complete the process.

  • Upon successful saving, a confirmation message will appear Backbone PE shanghai-pe added successfully.

Editing Backbone PE​

  • Locate the Backbone PE in the list and click the Edit button on the right.

  • Update the following fields as needed.

    • Backbone PE Device Name: Modify the name of the Backbone PE device(i.e:- shanghai-pe)
    • Select Backbone: Update the associated Backbone if required(i.e, shanghai-backbone)
    • Click the Update button to save changes.

  • Upon successful update, a confirmation message will appear Backbone PE shanghai-pe is updated successfully.

Deleting Backbone PE​

  • Locate the desired Backbone PE in the list and click the Delete button on the right.

  • Confirm the deletion in the prompt by selecting Yes button.

  • Upon successful deletion, a confirmation message will appear Backbone PE is deleted successfully.

Important Notes for Users​

  • A Backbone must already be configured before creating a Backbone PE.
  • Only authorized users with the required permissions should create, edit, or delete Backbone PE entries.
  • Deleting a Backbone PE is a permanent action and cannot be undone.
  • Before deleting a Backbone PE, ensure that no active services or dependencies rely on it.
