Exporting PE Devices

This document outlines the steps to export PE (Provider Edge) device details from the system. The exported data will be available in an Excel spreadsheet for easy viewing and analysis.


Steps to Export PE Device Data

Follow these instructions to download the PE device data:

  1. Log In: Navigate to the Login page and sign in to the account.

  2. Access PE Devices: From the main dashboard, go to the PE Devices section.

  3. Initiate Export: Locate and click the Export button.

    • As shown in the figure, the Export button is typically found in the upper-right corner of the screen. Clicking this will immediately start the download of the CE device data file.

  4. Locate Downloaded File: Once the download is complete, open the file explorer and navigate to the Downloads folder (typically This PC > Downloads).

  5. Open Excel File: Find and open the exported file. It will be an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx or .xls format).

Understanding the Exported Data

The exported Excel file will contain a comprehensive list of all PE devices, with details organized into the following columns:

Column HeaderDescription
Device IDA unique identifier for each PE device.
Device LabelA user-defined label or name for the device.
Firmware VersionThe current firmware version running on the device.
Firmware StatusThe current status of the device's firmware (e.g., "Up to date", "Update available", "Upgrading").
MAC AddressThe Media Access Control address of the device.
Internal IPThe internal IP address of the device.
Device IPThe primary IP address used by the device.
External IPThe external IP address of the device, if applicable.
SiteThe physical location or site where the device is deployed.
Created AtThe timestamp indicating when the device entry was created in the system.
Last Seen AtThe timestamp of the last time the device was online and communicated with the system.
Is OnlineIndicates whether the device is currently online (TRUE/FALSE).
CE CountThe total number of Customer Edge (CE) devices connected to this PE device.
Online CE CountThe number of currently online CE devices connected to this PE device.
Total CustomersThe total number of customers associated with this PE device.

Important Notes for Users

  • The exported file format will always be Excel (.xlsx/.xls).
  • Ensure you have Excel or a compatible viewer installed to open the file.
  • Exported data reflects the latest available system information at the time of export.
  • If the export does not start, check:
    • Internet connectivity
    • Browser download permissions
    • Pop-up/download blockers
  • Large datasets may take a few seconds to generate.
  • Only users with the required permissions can export PE device data.
  • Handle exported files securely, as they may contain sensitive network information.
  • If duplicate exports are downloaded, files may be saved with names like pe-devices (1).xlsx.

Q:1 Based on the sample data, which PE device is currently offline?

From the sample data: gcp-Mumbai-pe1 → Is Online = FALSE, sha-dev-pe1 → Is Online = FALSE These two PE devices are currently offline.

Q:2 Which device in the sample data has a firmware update available?

From the sample data: gcp-Mumbai-pe3 → Firmware Status = Update available. This indicates that gcp-Mumbai-pe3 has a firmware update available.
